Welcome to the eighth edition of our monthly newsletter.

It is delightful to see farmers’ dams full around the region. The recent rain has certainly brought a renewed enthusiasm to the town and the Project.

In Granite Belt Irrigation Project (GBIP) news, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Noye as Granite Belt Water Chair, following Dan Hunt’s resignation. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dan for his valuable contribution, and welcome Jack.

The GBIP team has been busy working towards getting the Project ready for the construction phase. Currently, the Project is working with the State and Federal Governments regarding the final offset strategy and what the final requirements will be. The Dam Design and Construct Tender has been released and once the tender has been finalised we will be able to confirm what materials are required.

At this point, it is exciting to reflect on how far the Project has come, and how close we are to breaking ground on Emu Swamp Dam.

As always, for anyone interested to learn more about the Project, please visit our website, or visit the team in the Project Office at 3/35 Maryland Street, Stanthorpe.
